Also, the New Testament references (and, we are under only the New Testament) Christians taking care of the poor. True.
But America, at least formerly, was a Christian nation. Many of our laws are based upon the Bible. Today, the Christian pays taxes which, in turn, govt uses to care for the poor and elderly.
Granted, the system is milked and abused, but in Jesus' day, there was no govt system of social services. Poor people simply starved and died. Unless Christians cared for them. Cf Lazarus in Luke 16.
Today, our taxes meet much of this burden.
They both need to go on the Venezuelan Diet.

The rev should try his theory out in socialist sh*tholes. I am sure “church” and socialist “state” are a utopian dream team.
