Some kind of hypersonic delivery system has been in development for a while already (Boost/glide). Tomahawks can be produced soon, and Army long range artillery systems (like HIMARS) are upgrading to get into this range in a few years.

The Democrats in the House are already working to zero out funding for an Intermediate range missile though (something like a Pershing “3”). Even with full funding, it could take 5 years or more to get a new system like that fielded (unless there is a big surprise up the sleeve).

SecDef says that we have a missile to test in November, so what that is, is at the top of Chinese and Russian Intelligence priorities right about now. Maybe there is a surprise ready.

Everything being talked about is for conventional warheads - any nuclear talk engenders visceral opposition by the Left (AKA Democrats).
