RE: We did not promise anyone anything before or after July 1, 1997.
But China will blame us ANYWAY. They are already doing this in their media.
The unfortunate meeting between one of our diplomats, Julie Eadeh, political unit chief of the US consulate general in Hong Kong, with their protest leaders (led by activist Joshua Wong) is just one example they will cite as interference in their internal affairs.

RE: How many Guns to the residents of Hong Kong own?
Not enough to overcome the PLA’s military weapons, tanks, and planes.
And here’s an even bigger difference — the Chicoms have the bomb, the VC’s don’t. Not sure if this is worth another military confrontation.
We’re already involved everywhere else.
The United States allowed a trickle through the Southern Border in November 2016 to become a river, and then a torrent that emptied the Americans of their power. The United States was dead by 2028.
There is a large number of Chinese forces already amassing on the border. If they enter the territory to impose order Tiananmen-Square-style, they wont be using rubber bullets and bean bag rounds. The protesters are perfectly right in their demands, and they are right in their fury at the brutality of Hong Kongs Police Force, but they must now exercise that virtue which is stereotypically Chinese: PRAGMATISM.
Mainland China has had an authoritarian government for thousands of years, and demanding recognition of democracy from them at this stage is about as much use as asking a tiger to eat lettuce. Against China, they cannot win, and if China enters Hong Kong to impose order, the cost will be unimaginable.
By all means your 401K is more important than China’s future plans for world domination. But who cares because you’ll be dead when that finally happens so you don’t care.
RE: By all means your 401K is more important than Chinas future plans for world domination.
Trading with them does not equate to allowing them world domination.
And being concerned for the retirement funds of 1/5 of Americans does not make one unpatriotic.
If you love 401K more than you love you country then I have no use for you. I hope you lose everything and end up eating dog food.
We’ll twiddle our thumbs, after we write a stern letter.
