Mine runs off people.
Cautiously heartening.
Will LNG ever be able to compete with crude oil imports as a feed stock for fuel for cars and trucks?
Traditional refineries “crack” oil. Can they “splice” gas? Direct LNG powering is possible too, but needs special design.
“Mine runs off people.”
Perhaps so, since Soylent Green is people.
Natural gas prices are dropping. Closed at 2.12 yesterday. My son works in the industry. With prices this low work has been slow. He says at 2.00 it will stop. We better find something to do with the stuff. We have too much of it.
Will that give us a few extra years, or do we still only have 11.5?
Countries with heavy LNG deposits,,,. What a hack writer. The USA runs mostly on natural gas. While some LNG is in use most of it is exported and none of it exist as a deposit anywhere in the world.
NG is extremely efficient as a motor fuel. Very clean at it too.
Liquid methane is rocket fuel.
Several oil companies are using natural gas to make petroleum products, especially motor oil. Shell’s Pennzoil division has been doing this for a number of years for their synthetic motor oils.
Drill Baby Drill!
Too funny. Russia is helping China clean up? Russia is selling gas for the money the my dont give a flip about helping China cut emissions. And Russia also knows that if they do not exploit Siberian resources but especially hydrocarbons and coal the Chinese certainly will.
[Irish Bob] O'Rourke responded, "I've listened to the scientists on this and they're very clear. We don't have more than ten years to get this right... " World renowned climate change expert Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has previously stated, "The world is going to end in twelve years if we don't address climate change and combat CO2."
CNG is already used in many public busses and gas industry vehicles. Burns clean, engines last longer. Its fairly cheap (several thousand dollars) to make a vehicle able to run either gasoline or CNG.
The downsides are:
1) The need for an additional CNG tank
2) Starting an engine with CNG is difficult in cold weather
3) CNG has less energy output than gasoline, making it less efficient for towing and hills.
All of the downsides are manageable, and the auto industry looked like it was headed toward stock dual fuel use vehicles UNTIL Obama was elected and pushed them to electric.
I know someone who has a plumbing company in Houston Texas that runs all of their trucks of NG. They have a "spigot" tapped right in the gas line at the shop.
“All of the downsides are manageable, and the auto industry looked like it was headed toward stock dual fuel use vehicles UNTIL Obama was elected and pushed them to electric.”
I was going to say the same - just shows the power of the president. Left alone, we’d be well on our way towards a good number of cars running on natural gas.
Someone should offer a NG car.
