City leaders know where the money is made, so they make sure those locations are kept up, the rest of the city could fall apart as long as the community organizers get paid and make sure to round up the votes every 4 years. Interesting that you hear about all the violence, going to the bathroom on the sidewalk, needles all over the street, everywhere but where the tourists go and business is conducted.
Do the rich white guys that work at the Mercantile and live in the city care that Chicago is a bloodbath? Nope. They’re so insulated from that world they could care less.
If the black community got their criminals and crime rates under control they could have stores like every other ethic group in the United States.
It's NOT the color of their skin - it's that black culture in the United States is more criminal and violent than any other group living here.... And most of their victims are other black citizens.

For those who aren’t aware....the inner harbor area is the tourist hangout, and where the police force puts maximum effort to show the ‘old’ Baltimore. There might be a few neighborhoods with less crime statistics, but it’s mostly because of watch-groups and armed response by local residents. The ‘next’ Detroit is Baltimore, and will reach that level by 2025. Just on the property tax base, and the majority of workers in the city living way beyond the city border....they are sliding fast.
