RIP Mr. Rickman. You were a true one of a kind acting talent. THANK YOU for the many memories of outstanding craft. You are missed in today’s tactlessness, Hollywood filth.

Rickman was a fantastic heavy. Who can forget the racist murderous bast@rd, Elliott Marston in Quigley Down Under.

I one tagged along to a Babylon 5 reunion at a local Comicon a few years ago, and Bruce Boxleitner said that they all used to go over to Jerry Doyle's house, get drunk, and watch Galaxy Quest.
It was their favorite movie.

But inept and indifferent studio marketing (plus competition from another "sci-fi" comedy, Ghostbusters) relegated Galaxy Quest to semi-cult status.
Ghostbusters came out 15 years before GalaxyQuest. They weren't in direct competition.
If you're looking for a "competitor" to blame, consider Toy Story (which came out a few years before).
When people think "Tim Allen" and "space" that's the movie they think of.
GalaxyQuest wasn't bad, but there was no way the execution was going to be as brilliant as the concept.

John Ringo in his ‘Dark Tide Rising’ series gave it a great nod. IMO the second best Star Trek movie behind Kahn.I'd read a grocery list if John Ringo wrote it.
