If these "identity politics" types are wondering what the hell is going wrong, how do you think Kamala Harris feels?
She keeps asking herself "just who (ala Willie Brown) do I have to f*ck to become President? Just tell me who so I can do the dirty deed and start measuring the WH curtains?"
I think a lot of the Harvard MBA sorts thought that once they had the degree from Hahhhvahd, they could coast to the top on credentials and politics/networking alone.
Luckily for all of us, that ain't the way it works.
