The Drive has several articles on the accident and Russian submarines, with lots of links in each (and not too many ads, nice). This looks like a good starting point to find other articles or keywords for other searches. The accident reportedly took place off
Kildin roughly ten miles east of the mouth of the Kola Bey near Severomorsk.

Anymore info on VP Pence’s recall to the White House yesterday? There was some chatter these two stories might be related. Anybody?

AFAIK there is no new information on why Pence canceled a visit to New Hampshire, only that he did. When a Russian nuclear submarines is lost, it makes sense for the U.S. governments to pay close attention to it. So these stories could be related, but there is not enough information available yet to know.

The accident was near Kildin Island, within Russian's 12 mile limit.

What the hell were “WE” doing within “THEIR” 12 mile limit?
I am really getting sick of the Military Industrial Complex and this crap. I Have 11 GRANDCHILDREN...

The U.S. was not involved in this at all.
What are you talking about?
To: Openurmind
When attack boats carry buoyancy charts for fresh water 12 mile limits dont count. Submarines go and do things youre better off not knowing about.

“adjusting” for fresh water is all tell and self explanatory...

It’s not yet clear that we were, but we very well might have been, the submarine service has been joined at the hip with intelligence since subs were invented.
I’m more interested in finding out whether it really was an accident or whether someone (possibly us or possibly someone else trying to get us blamed and start a war)attacked them.

It always good to see people checking with Rogoway’s “The War Zone” for relevant facts and the real info on all things miliary, instead of just going with half baked stuff from other usually misinformed sites.
The Drive is a car site that hosts The War Zone.

So? This has nothing to do with the US, occurring in Russian territorial waters aboard questionably constructed and maintained Russian subs which are in terrible shape on a questionable mission.

Why would Ruskies tap an undersea cable in their territorial waters?
Practice?
Or did another country lay a cable across the path of all ships leaving the Northern Fleets bases?
