Now, now, settle down my dear. You do need the right animal if you want to run a government that secures our liberties against enemies foreign and domestic.
It’s been many, many moons since I went to college. However, I did get a useless degree and haven’t done anything in the way of a career. Now that my kids are grown and gone, I really wish I had learned some kind of skill.
There are exceptions to the rule, you Daughter being one.
If only!
I was going to post a similar comment. Only 40% of engineers are happy with their career choice? I would hope that at least 70% were happy. Engineers are making about $70,000 (and more) coming out of college right now.
The moral and ethical thing to do would be to have guidance counselors go over with a student’s plan and tell them that it was a waste of money if they ever planned to actually make a comfortable living...
I am actually a Director for a Humane Society. Veterinary medicine is in high demand right now.
I also agree with you that grooming is a great business as long as you understand what the client wants and can deliver. People are funnier about their dogs haircut than they are their own.
Welcome to reality. Hope you adapt to the experience.
The College industry operates on the “sucker born every minute” principle.
This increase in tuition is not being driven by increases in faculty hires in proportion to the number of students, nor by increases in faculty pay. If anything, universities rely increasingly on low-pay adjunct faculty to teach courses.
The rising costs are driven almost entirely by the increasingly bloated administration at every university. At a typical college, where there used to one one Dean and perhaps an associate Dean, there are now about 20 or more sub-Deans of various types, and so on down the hierarchy.
Interestingly though, teachers expressed the least regrets over their career choices, second least to engineers, despite the chronically low pay of such educators.
For a lot of people, job security and stability are more important than a high salary. Public school teachers complain continually about how little they get paid, but they have some of the highest job security, the best benefits, and the most vacation time of any profession.
Agreed. And you should see the looks I get from her when I tell her I voted AGAINST school bonds.
I vote NO on every school millage, and I never forget to vote.
