Ha! That was my first thought, too. I have a ton of mylar baggies for long-term food storage and was wondering how well it would would. I know that thin metal flashes in the microwave, so I’m not sure if I’ll be protected or popcorn.

That one did considerably more than heat the moisture in skin.... Yes, I believe Rand's device used sound waves. I think they used it wrong and took down a railway bridge across a river (perhaps the Mississippi?)

Yeah, I can see this being employed to keep American citizens within the government specified Free Speech Zones the next time the demorats gain power.

I prefer something that would make them uncontrollably spew at both ends.
I’m mean that way.

Agree. Also, “no long term studies have been done on the effect of this ray and its denaturing of crucial biological proteins in its victims”, is going to be an argument, ignoring that the other option might have been shooting large holes in that ‘victim’.

There is already crowd weapons used in violent protests in large areas and it is called sub-sonics.

I never find someone inventing a more effective means of controlling demonstrators to be a heartening prospect. You bet that these will be used on American citizens.
//////////////////
First thing I thought of also. This will never be used on the border, Too many 10 year old children will be used as shields. It will be crowd control at conservative political rallies and demonstrations.
To: Rashputin
If someone has a plywood shield covered with aluminum foil will that render this thing ineffective against them?Probably wouldn't even have to be solid. Take a look at the mesh on the door of a microwave. A large shield of similar material would likely defeat it. I wonder if chain mail would do the same. Might be a good time to invest in chain mail shirts for future domestic protests, once the democrats gain power again.

This thing was always grossly inappropriate for domestic enforcement, but it’s quite ideal for controlling crowds of invading aliens.

The device works by emitting an ultra-high frequency blast (around 1920 kHz) that teenagers or people under approximately 20 are susceptible to and find uncomfortable. If it was increased, it could kill with the destruction of organs and the contraction of muscle tissue, to include the heart.
Sound in that range doesn't stun. It destroys.

I would like to think that if bad people were aware of a machine that is capable of causing anywhere from nausea to death with no sound, no explosion, and no fire, there would be a recognition of concern at the least. And it doesn’t clobber property.
