Ah, the UK.
The only thing Orwell messed up was the date.
All stereotypes are true to some extent; otherwise they wouldn’t make any sense. We all know someone who matches the stereotype. That doesn’t mean we think every individual of a particular group matches the stereotype.
I remember watching an episode of “Baretta” that had an old black actor who played a wino. He looked familiar, so I looked him up on IMDB. He had had a lot of roles, and in all of them the role was described as wino, winehead, derelict, bum, addict, etc. Every single one. He had made a career out of being a stereotype. He couldn’t have been Sidney Poitier, and Sidney Poitier couldn’t have been him.
The Brits used to have great advertising, but not anymore.
The UK has had a full-scale war against free speech going on for the last decade or two.
