Get used to it. Democrats have become car haters. Almost none of Obama's "infrastructure" boondogle was spend on roads.

Now that the Dems are in complete control of Colorado they are stopping what little construction was underway. We have to "rethink" transportation and "get cars off the road." And then spend all the money on Democrat spoils and payoffs.

With the money we have paid these theiving bastards we should be driving on highways made of gold.

And yet nobody ever questions them.

No kidding!! They are repaving I-55 in Mississippi just south of the Tennessee state line and my five year old truck with 161,000 miles still wearing the original windshield now needs a windshield replacement. They ground down the old asphalt and apparently aren’t able to sweep up ever last piece so now (Wednesday) my windshield is crack right across my line of vision and about to give me a seizure.

Yesterday morning I got another big ass “smack” on the right side of the windshield... pisses me off!!

I miss concrete roads that don’t require repaving (job security)every two years.

Charlotte NC has been under perpetual highway construction and repair.

Hard to fix the roads when government is busy diverting tax revenues to welfare graft, welfare for illegals graft, pensions for state workers graft, stadiums for billionaires graft, high speed rail graft, solar subsidies graft, electric car subsidies graft, and thousands upon thousands of other wasteful ideas.

There is merit in your statements. After all, Georgia is not one for truly high taxes, and yet nearly all of I-75 in that state is six lanes, rehabilitated where necessary. Meanwhile, between 2006 and 2013 (the latter date is when I checked satellite view on Google Maps), I-95 was widened from a mostly four-lane road to a six- to eight-lane road. True, most of the bridges had bee pre-widened by 2006, but that was still impressive.

When there is a will to get it done, it WILL get done.

The guy acts like the interstates haven’t been touched in 60 years which is nonsense.

Yep. All the construction zones that I have seen during my cross-country travels were simply there for decoration, don'tcha know.

The original requirements for interstates was for them to be paved with concrete, creating all those clickety-clack slab roads around the country. However, I doubt that this requirement was always observed.

Correct. I contracted for Wisconsin DOT, and the I-90 project was not only redoing the bottom layer, but widening where need at the same time. VERY serious project.

Well, if they built the interstates the same way the Germans built the Autobahns there wouldn’t be an issue.

The road beds on our highways are about half of that found on the Autobahns resulting in roads that are less stable and more susceptible to environmental conditions

There was also the work on I-85 south of ATL, and IIRC the 400 was expanded too.

The autobahns road beds are well built for the weather here in Germany, areas without that freeze thaw cycle, and moist conditions require different engineering. German roads also carry a much higher portion of freight than in North America. I haven’t seen a freight train in two years here.

After living here for few years you realize the Autobahns are far from perfect. Construction delays are constant, the A8 a major east west highway near where I live in Stuttgart has been under reconstruction for over two years. Traffic jams are constant, as the roads are clogged with commercial trucks and commuters. Public transit, while efficient, does not carry as high a portion of commuters as people believe. The only times the Autobahn lives up to it billing is on a Sunday, when commercial activity is prohibited and the roads open up considerably.

It would help if they actually spent the money allocated for roads! Slush fund crap must stop.

You can’t spend money on infrastructure that you’re spending on feeding people that hate you.

I rather enjoy the “clickety-clack” of the concrete slabs. Yes, I know I’m weird.

The U.S. has "taken a generation off" from investing in infrastructure

No, the politicians have neglected spending taxes and fees earmarked for infrastructure and have instead diverted billions to stave off bankruptcy due to government defined benefits that wee based on fuzzy math and wasteful and growing social welfare programs.
