I'm posting this because my son was on the overwatch team and is the first ever espn collegiate esports champions.

Really amazing what he was able to do with his team.

I play three of the five listed games regularly. I have for years. Hearthstone, Overwatch and Heroes of the storm. All are pretty good games from Blizzard.

Of the three, I highly recommend Hearthstone for casual gamers and it’s free to play.

Chrome is screwing up the look on the photo. It’s large than small. But my son is on the left in front holding up the trophy (long hair).

The car wash TV was showing some kind of video game “contest” like this yesterday morning. San Francisco vs. Vancouver, I think it was.

All I recall is listening to the tone of the announcers and how carefully they were dissecting the plays. Understood nothing of what they were talking about, but it reminded me of John Michael Higgins in either “Best in Show” or “Pitch Perfect”!

Hots won’t be back. Blizzard always do be dropping it. In fact I’m worried that Activision is finally going to screw up blizzard.

That was probably overwatch league.
The announcers for this tournament were great. Listen to the two clips I posted. They were all over it. They were amazing because it’s hard to follow yet alone talk in real time about what is going on.

The link ending in eagleEye is the best. It gives me chills each time I watch it. Probably because it’s my son but it is amazing.

Is Blizzard dropping HoTs altogether or do you mean they won’t be back to the competition next season?

I think they are dropping support for it. Activision is making them focus on mobile gaming (cell phone games).

Playing video games is no more a “sport” than playing board games like Monopoly or Ker-Plunk! Or Chess and Checkers.

Actually it is. Also chess is a sport too.

BTW look up the definition. Esports is more sport than many other sports.

Like shot put, javelin, curling, shooting, etc.

Chess and scrabble have been televised - I don’t think Monopoly or Kerplunk have. I’m not sure about checkers either.
