However, Boeing is on the hook for a critical system failure. I expect a final tab in the billions, a good chunk of which will be out-of-pocket for Boeing because it falls under the deductible. Its insurance premiums are about to skyrocket.
Why would an aircraft with apparent malfunction be allowed to remain in service without an inspection? Is this negligence on the part of Lion Air?

There is your answer as to who is most to blame. It doesn’t matter much that “Tom Cruise” may have been able to save the plane. A lot of people are dead, And Boeing is at least 90% to blame.
