This is the Lost Coast Wilderness, as far as you can get from civilization ANYWHERE on the West Coast. It takes 6 hours to drive there...from anywhere.
And Mountain Lion country.
Somebody taught these little girls well. There are dozens on this site that would not have survived it.
Great News.
How many bears looked after them in the woods?
Yesterday afternoon a skier was killed in a slide on the west side of the Bridger Range at the top of Truman Gulch on a run called St. Lawrence.
The skier was travelling solo and a separate party of two, skinning uphill, witnessed him triggering the slide and getting swept downhill.
They responded swiftly, got a beacon signal and saw his hand sticking out of the snow. The dug him up and did CPR, but the skier never revived. He was carried approximately 1,000 feet vertical down a steep slope causing fatal trauma.
The skier was a well known and loved local and we are deeply saddened to report this tragic accident. In the coming days we will release a full accident report.
Unfortunately, because of the dangerous avalanche conditions we cannot investigate the site. Preliminary information and photos.
See Bozeman Chronicle or Friends of Gallatin National Forest National Avalanche Center.
This may be a duplicate post or just done wrong...been sick as a dog and can barely remember how to type.
Amazing girls!
Maybe
But more likely well fed Coyotes.
Most bears are still in their hole.
But there’s no doubt they found shelter and warmth.
Or made it.
They stayed dry or they would not have lived.
Arguably the premier marijuana growing spot in the United States
Are GPS locator beacons expensive?I would want one on each member of the family.
Those little girls surely had guardian angels....
....I am overjoyed to read this happy news
“Arguably the premier marijuana growing spot in the United States”
Only if you measure by quantity.
The Central Valley would be better but there’s no place to hide.
Hobbyist grows in the Valley are approaching 30% cannabinoids by dry weight. All organic, no chemicals.
A boy who was lost in the woods says a bear kept him company. No one can prove it didn’t happen.

I'd bet a donut that staying dry was a big part of their 4-H training.
Parents are smart and great. They prepared these girls to take of themselves if such an event came up. No snowflakes or unicorns in this group.
In another news item, it said that the girls even tried to start a fire to keep warm. Now that's good training. However, we've had lots of rain yesterday and today in Northern California, not easy finding dry kindling to start a fire.
“No snowflakes or unicorns in this group.”
Probably hippy, “farmers”.
After their family hugs them to pieces, gets them cleaned/warmed up, and fed, they should be in for some major (non-corporal) discipline.
Saw this story and immediately thought the worst. Thank God.
I’ve been watching this story locally and am relieved to see they found them.
