In my opinion, Nanzi Piglosi is a national emergency and an evil, corrupt, amoral, bottom-feeding, treasonous national disaster all in one.

I read one comment on an article about the wall and Pelosi’s threat to ignore the 2nd Amendment. The writer said he couldn’t wait for El Chapo to list all the anti-wall Congress members who got money from him.
She is not wrong, except in what things could be done about it.
SUppose there were 12 school shootings over a period of a week, which would suggest some greater plot to shoot up schools, or if not that, a copy-cat craze doing viral.
Now, there are laws in some places against guns in schools, and most school systems have not authorized paying for security.
But what if the President, seeing this, called it a “national emergency”? Then he authorized the purchase of 1 billion dollars worth of metal detectors, and a billion dollars to be offered to schools to beef up their physical barriers, and another billion to pay for security guards?
None of that would be money that was authorized by congress, and some of it would be physical barriers and security to keep people out.
Would the democrats claim that this was illegal to do?
on the other hand, you can’t use a statute that says “the executive can spend money for infrastructure if there is an emergency”, and claim that it would allow a democratic president to spend money confiscating weapons, or revoking the 2nd amendment. You can’t do illegal things under the law congress passed, and you can’t do “legislative things”, you can just spend money to provide infrastructure, and to provide aid and assistance.
THe law has limits, and if the democrats could figure out how to use the law for their aims, it would have happened long ago.
Pelosi should get right on a new bill limiting the scope of the emergency declarations act, to restrict it in the way she believes it should be restricted.
And the courts should point out to her that this is a legislative fight, and there are legislative solutions.
Meanwhile, yes Trump played badly. If he had done this emergency thing last year, he could have at least had a bill from republicans that wouldn’t have had THIS many poison pills in it; they might have been able to put in words making it clear a wall was authorized, but that there was no money available, to make it easier for the emergency declaration to pass muster.

When the President declares there is an emergency, there is an emergency no matter what any of us think. To state otherwise, is to deny governance.
