For everyone still skeptical that Northam would get to pick a new LG if Fairfax resigns, here’s the 1982 AG opinion on the question. It’s not binding, but it’s the closest thing to an official legal interpretation we’ve got

I contacted the Republican Party of Virginia office, left a message with the question...”there is an election coming up, can you give me the names of the nominees.” NO REPLY

I called the office of Delegate Jason Miyeres left a message with the same question. NO REPLY.

I can see an election with all dem winners if the republicans “DON’T EVEN GIVE A RAT’S ASSET WHAT HAPPENS.”

To think we left New Jersey for this kind of lackadaisical attitude, which in future years, if this continues, will be worse than NJ.

We have a Primary in June and I have no idea who is in the race.

According to Fox & Friends this morning, in Virginia you can only be impeached for offenses committed while in office. The alleged rapes were before he became Lt. Governor so impeachment would not be an appropriate remedy.

Probably a Democrat who got elected in a district that Trump carried by 20 pts just trying to save his sorry arse. Lots of those, still, in VA ... the “blue’ that the state/commonwealth has become is the result of all those govt workers moving to Northern VA.
