Good points - I hadn’t thought of the distraction angle. I guess throwing him under the bus was a no-brainer. I wonder if this guy had any idea just how expendable he was...
Reminds me of that Far Side cartoon depicting two deers standing in the forest - one has a bright red target on his chest. His friend is saying “Bummer of a birthmark, Hal”.
