Don’t forget the mandatory printing of the California Proposition 65 hazard warning on those receipts.

paper receipts are a public safety hazard because of a chemical they contain called Bisphenol A (BPA) that the FDA banned from use in baby bottles. However, according to Alex Berezow, vice president of scientific affairs at the American Council on bla bla bla..

But it’s OK in S. CA for tens of thousands of illegal aliens to fire up 150,000 leaf blowers, blowing thousands of tons of nasty dust, dirt, chemicals, bio-hazards and pollutants into the air, into homes and into your lungs every day of the week...

What about folks who are computer illiterate? You can’t easily download receipts and organize them on a smart phone very well without skills.

Years ago I took a night stocker job at Wal-Mart for “beer money” - and learned a few things in the process. Occasionally, I’d run across a receipt on the floor and just toss it in the trash bin.

Some weeks later we were told to pick up and destroy any receipts we found on the floor. It seem the grifters would pick up the receipt, find the item(s) that were listed, pick up the same, and then go to Cuustomer Service for a “refund”.

Crap you and I would never think of turned into ways to chisel a buck from stores.

This is comical because they aren’t paper! It if contains BPa it’s basically a plastic... which most receipts are... they are plastic that is burnt to make the “printing”. A true paper receipt does not contain BPA

Do you want a receipt for your Snickers Bar and Big Gulp?

Yes, please.

OK, I’m going to need your email address and I need to ask you if you own any firearms and/or if your home contains any firearms.

What the deuce are folks who do not have PCs supposed to do??? Clearly those folks in CA’s political class are in BAABAARAAWAWALAND.

If they want to reduce paper they would be better served looking at the main generators of paper ... and it is not these rinky dinky receipts.

I don’t see it as the government’s business to ban any of this but they are nipping at gnats.

CVS is the worst at receipts. How did you arrange to get their short-version receipts? My CVS receipts easily stretch from Seattle to Los Angeles on I-5.

Checking out at Best Buy is the absolutely worst retail experience of all. First you have to find the product. If it’s in a locked glass case, you have to find a guy with a key. He has to take the product to the register. The check out clerk asks you 147 questions before getting to the transaction. “No, I don’t want to contribute to the homeless kittens betterment society in Zimbabwe.” You get the chance to save some small percentage if you have some sort of account with them. I know I do have such an account, but they can never find it and I’ll be damned if I will carry their little “membership” dongle around with me. I don’t WANT to be a “member” of any retail establishment.

Finally they treat you like a felonious neer-do-well at the exit door.

I don’t take receipts usually as they do not taste good but how is a person supposed to check his purchases?

The receipt comes by email. So . . . you print the receipt from your computer. Big boost to the environment, eh?

If I received 5000 paper receipts (over time) and it saved me from having to shoot my way out of just ONE erroneous/over zealously executed shop-lifting accusation... I’d be happy... heck... make it even 6000... 8000... :-)

He probably doesn’t want you to see the TAX he is going to put in place. If you saw it you might get upset.

IF I had a dollar for EVERY Expense Report I have processed in my lifetime as a bookkeeper/accounting person, I could make a large dent in my credit card balance.

There is NO way to process expense reports in the manner referred to in this article.

ALSO-—The IRS WANTS RECEIPTS for items that you are deducting. ALL your income tax records have to be held a MINIMUM of 3 years. How is that going to be possible with electronic records???? How will the IRS audit a person???

It is a fallacy that EVERYONE used a cell phone. I know plenty of people who do NOT—and I am one of those people. I don’t have one, will never have one & don’t want one at any price.

Doing all business electronically is a ripe place for hackers to get even more into YOUR business.

I usually pay cash for small items, and I need a receipt. Buying stamps I have to do with CASH....I don’t ever use a debit card. Same for a trip to Subway or Taco Bell. I probably buy 25% of my groceries with CASH. Same for my horse feed. I pay CASH to my hay grower & I get a better price. None of anyone’s business what I buy or eat.

This is a truly bad idea.

Accounting people will tell you to stop this right now.

How do you handle a return of an item???

In the rare event that I have to return something—to Wal Mart or Lowe’s or whomever, I MUST have the receipt.

As a life long bookkeeper/accounting person, I certainly hope that you NEVER get an IRS audit.

Own your own home? Do repairs or improvements? YOU MUST HAVE the receipts when you are calculating your capital gain profits on the sale of your property.

You are 100% correct. The shop owner has a right to make sure you didn’t shoplift something.

This is another push to make us buy technology we don’t need.
