Getting interesting.
President Trump’s commitment to building a wall is two years too late.
Yep - and the irony is that while they showcase members of their base who are ‘suffering horribly”, all they have to do is cough up what amounts to a mere pittance to make it stop....
“Even if more GOP Senators begin calling for this, it gives him more leverage with Pelosi”
I expect the a-hole from Hawii or Washington State to issue a preemptive injunction to block it.
Trump will wait. And after the next caravan same old stuff. Trump must now declare a National Emergency or America will turn into a lost cause.
Graham has been pushing amnesty since he got to the Senate.
Why wasn’t he pushing for border security?
We were thirty years late electing a President who sided with the citizens and the rule of law.
If so charge with treason and indite them.
Hawaiian judge just waiting...
I’m a Fender guy, but hey...great minds and all that...
What if....????????????
Some @$$whole put this guy up to making all these suggestions for TRUMP.45!, b4 that person? croaked?????????
++++++++++++++++++++
Hmmm........

********
You should’ve shown PDJT how it’s done!
Pfft!
Graham is the last person I would want making Trump’s case. He can’t be trusted. No doubt, Graham would like Trump to trade an amnesty for the 22 million illegal aliens in return for a wall. The Gang of 8 still lives with Graham and Rubio still around on the Rep side along with Dems Durbin, Bennett, Schumer, and Menendez. McCain and Flake have departed one way or another.
I’m not an amnesty guy, but they are two different issues. Step 1 is preventing people from coming here illegally.
Once the flow is stopped, we can discuss what to do with the illegals that are already here. The issues shouldn’t be comingled.
I think it would be to our advantage that Trump declares national emergency and gets the wall going. Then if RBG passes shortly after, THAT becomes the focus in the American dialogue - and becomes the immediate concern of the Dems. The wall becomes a shadow of concern then.
Well, that would be awfully convenient but hardly a guarantee to happen
This is what basic game theory recommends:
FIRST, Trump proposes to Dems a $4.5B compromise short of the $5.7B he has asked for and full of specific and concrete (pun intended) details. These details focus on key points along the border where the crisis is most acute and demonstrable. Replace fence with WALL. Connect up short stretches of fence WALL. Where border crossings are presently the very, very worst, build WALL. And so forth.
If Dems accept, government opens and the crisis is kicked down the road.
If Dems reject
SECOND, Trump declares an emergency and proceeds with just $3B of the $4.5B he proposed, focusing WALL funds even more on areas that are clearly and most acutely in crisis. He goes to great lengths to convey that he is not trying to be provocative or unyielding. He has tried to compromise on the original $20B that he wanted for the entire border. He has tried everything with these Dems to reach agreement. And now the crisis is so bad in specific and clearly identified locations that he is left with no choices. He is only moving forward with expenditures in places that are most egregious. There is still a crisis elsewhere but in these particular places it is beyond any other remediation. Trump also says that with this decision made he will open the government and continue negotiating with the Dems on the issue. The smirk on his face is a dare to the Dems to try to stop his emergency $3B package.
If Dems accept, government opens and the crisis is kicked down the road. Trump needs to start working on RBG’s replacement. He is practically guaranteed re-election.
If Dems reject he tells them to go pound sand. If they try to stop his emergency spending, he tells them to go pound sand. If they sue, he has the evidence behind him and political support from anyone with an ounce of common sense and he wins. On to RBG’s replacement. On to re-election.
Note: The $3B is not the end of things. Once he wins at the SCOTUS and establishes that his decisions at the border prevail, he can roll out another $2B of emergency wall construction in 2020 and then another round as he begins his second term.
Sounds pretty good. If he’s smart enough to come up with all that. Have you emailed him yet? I would.
