I’m just focusing on the Roosevelt quote and the “words are pointless” argument.

1. Nobody needs to be in the arena to criticize the pols for whom we vote, and whose salaries we pay. Nonsense.
2. The fact that our words are allegedly pointless never stopped you, me, or anybody else on this forum from attacking Obama, or any of a billion other people.

I have a problem with republicans attacking Trump, not republicans attacking democrats.

Trump is the best most effective president we’ve had in my lifetime and pathetic purse dogs like Ann think they know more than he does. What skin does she have in the game, like Trump does?? None! What sacrifice has she made for the country like Trump has?? NONE!!

Again, I am focusing on Roosevelt’s quote.

Do you believe that pols should not be criticized by those not in the arena?

"Let the man of learning, the man of lettered leisure, beware of that queer and cheap temptation to pose to himself and to others as a cynic, as the man who has outgrown emotions and beliefs, the man to whom good and evil are as one. The poorest way to face life is to face it with a sneer. There are many men who feel a kind of twister pride in cynicism; there are many who confine themselves to criticism of the way others do what they themselves dare not even attemptThere is no more unhealthy being, no man less worthy of respect, than he who either really holds, or feigns to hold, an attitude of sneering disbelief toward all that is great and lofty, whether in achievement or in that noble effort which, even if it fails, comes to second achievement. A cynical habit of thought and speech, a readiness to criticise work which the critic himself never tries to perform, an intellectual aloofness which will not accept contact with life's realities - all these are marks, not as the possessor would fain to think, of superiority but of weakness. They mark the men unfit to bear their part painfully in the stern strife of living, who seek, in the affection of contempt for the achievements of others, to hide from others and from themselves in their own weakness."

Trump's not a politician. More from the speech;

"The man who does nothing cuts the same sordid figure in the pages of history, whether he be a cynic, or fop, or voluptuary. There is little use for the being whose tepid soul knows nothing of great and generous emotion, of the high pride, the stern belief, the lofty enthusiasm, of the men who quell the storm and ride the thunder. Well for these men if they succeed; well also, though not so well, if they fail, given only that they have nobly ventured, and have put forth all their heart and strength."

Where does Ann fit in??

Can pols be criticized by those not in the arena? The stirring quote you posted does not address that. It was very moving, however. Unresponsive, but moving.

Number one I voted for Bush over Clinton. I worked hard on that campaign because Billy Jeff s armed me to death. So I didn’t allow any such thing

For those who were not busy calling out Paul RINO for her atrocious leadership.....shame on you. Trump ain’t done yet. You and the rest of the sunshine patriots need to start working hard with the rest of us to make sure Trump is reelected. Not bitching and moaning

“Can pols be criticized by those not in the arena?”

Of course, that happens all the time. Critics, like the poor, will always be with us. The speech addresses that fact. And in the case of Trump it says way more about the critic, than Trump. Trump counts, not his critics.

“which the critic himself never tries to perform”

“there are many who confine themselves to criticism of the way others do what they themselves dare not even attempt”

“all these are marks, not as the possessor would fain to think, of superiority but of weakness”

Okay... But it’s a dangerous philosophy. I would never run for pres, but I will and do criticize the Obama whore. Just like you. Suppose somebody pointed out to you that you never ran for pres and never will, and that therefore your critique of Obama filth made you “weak”?

If, and it’s a big ‘if,’ if you are sooooo politically savvy then you know what will happen to Trump if he caves on the wall. But no, you’re too busy calling out ‘sunshine patriots’ to know the real score. But not to worry, you can keep your head in the sand and let us adults worry about Trump.

I’m specifically talking about so called republicans criticizing Trump who has done more than any republican president ever in only two years. What’s dangerous is the mindless criticism from so those called republicans. Trump’s got more love for America than all those mindless critics put together. And Ann’s in that group. She’s doing it for the publicity and money, just like Mitt and the others.

Those mindless critics are even here on FR, and say stupid things like “if Trump caves on this I’m done wit him!”

That’s what’s dangerous. I think that’s the kind of critic Teddy was talking about. Cold and timid souls....

Thank you. Yes, I did see President Trump's tweet and watched the video.

What I want to make clear to you is that I am not belly aching, I am trying to convey the reality of the country as a whole.

I am not abandoning President Trump.

I am not going to vote for a democrat - ever.

I am not going to have a temper tantrum and stay home next election.

But Rush Limbaugh, Dan Bongino, and even NancyPants Lindsay Graham have said that if Trump caves on the wall, his Presidency is over.

President Trump has received the message, as he stated at his impromptu press conference yesterday (you can watch it here) "I have never had so much support, as I have in the last week, over my stance for border security."

So he gets it as well. If he caves on this issue at this time, he will lose the grass roots support that put him in the White House. Not my support, but the support of all of those first-time Republican voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa that flipped their states from Dem to Republican. You saw some of it already in the midterms where Wisconsin and Michigan had statewide elections and flipped their governors from R to D.

It is not a threat, nor is it a belly ache, it is a warning.
