“So potheads weren’t as smart as they thought they were. Imagine that.”

It wasn’t the potheads who came up with the excess regulations and taxation.

Gosh, it's almost as if the lawless libs of California hadn't been following the laws in the first place. But don't worry, now that they hear how the state gov't is in trouble, they'll pitch in to help, and start paying up. That's what lawless libs do, is obey the laws.

The lid comes from a folgers coffee can lid which they would use to scoop it from a basket in Oaxaca open air markets back in the 70’s.

Well then, since they’re not making expected big league profits, make it illegal again, go back to throwing hundreds of thousands of Americans in cages, seize their stuff and create millions of new criminals!

Psst, the only thing the WOD did was significantly expand the size, scope and control of government in every GD direction.

One of the biggest con-jobs in U.S. history.

I bought lids in the mid-sixties, ten years prior.

This could be a first. California taxes and regulates a new industry to death before it even gets off the ground!

Leave it to CA.

I’ve been saying for a long time that marijuana legalization will have very little impact on anything. Pot has been ubiquitously available in places like California for a very long time, and I’m pretty sure that nearly everyone has already made up their minds about whether to use it or not, and for those so inclined, they generally have their own sources.

Police are searching far fewer cars in states that have legalized marijuana

June 25, 2017

The legalization of marijuana in Washington state and Colorado had at least one unanticipated effect on the streets: a sharp decline in the number of traffic stops resulting in searches by state police, a new analysis shows.

Many on this thread don’t seem to get that this is only a problem for those in the mj business. For consumers, it’s the best of all worlds. They get legal, top quality pot at reasonable prices.

Sounds like Mom & Pop operations are the ones reaping most of the benefit from legalization in CA.

True.

The black market is thriving.

I’ve lived in Oregon for 47 years, nothing seems different, than before legalization.

If any group needs to be dealt with in Oregon, it’s the “booze heads”.

You don’t make a profit on anything selling it less then what the going rate is.

Blackmarkets are as old as history. Once governments get involved (with regulation and taxes) legal products tend to cost more then illegal ones.

The “going rate” at legal pot stores includes all the fees, regulations and taxes.

Someone growing pot outside of the system has a lower overhead and can sell for less then the legal going rate and still make a profit.

But then you know that so I don’t know what your point was
