Take a look at YouTube and check out interviews and scenes of crowds from the 1950s to early 60s. Well dressed, orderly folks, going about their business. Articulate interviews. Civilized.
Take a look around today....
"Note that moral principles cannot be proven scientifically any more than Gods existence; you cant see a moral under a microscope or a principle in a Petri dish."
Unfortunately, I think that scientific materialists believe that they will eventually be able to prove the existence of certain moral truths. Isn't that why they are determined to force us to get behind the global climate change bandwagon or risk being declared immoral?
We have a human nature which the scientific materialists are busy dissecting. They will determine what we ought to eat, how we ought to exercise, how we should organize our economies, governments, and societies. It will be very utilitarian. Just ask Peter Singer.
“I had a chance to live in FAR BETTER TIMES.”
Sorta disconcerting that is true...but like many here I fear
“The best is not yet to come”
We seniors have lived them ......One of the few generations that it can be said Not True >> The masses of men lead lives on quiet desperation...And sadly we are speaking of the small number in AMERICA and parts of Western Europe....
Thanks for the ping to a thought-provoking article.
I believe that God put his laws in our hearts and wrote them on our minds (Hebrews 10:16 and Romans 2:15). Man is fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of his Creator (Psalms 139:14) whether we acknowledge Him or not (the law of gravity isnt determined by our belief). Because of this, non-believers can share the traditional values of believers, and can lead exemplary moral lives.
I also believe that there are innumerable forks in the road of each individual journey. At each fork, the law written in our hearts points to our Creators direction; His law written in our hearts tells us the right path, whether or not we acknowledge Him. But free will allows us to choose the wrong direction.
At every turn, there is a community that encourages and admonishes the individual to choose the wrong direction. A lot of that community is embedded in academia, media, entertainment and politics. Choosing the wrong direction brings acceptance, celebration, or promises of fame and fortune that are sometimes realized. The lure is potent. Course corrections in the journey are always possible, but the more frequently the wrong direction is chosen, the farther the traveler distances himself from the voice of his Creator.
In the end, there will be a reckoning, as our Creator has given us to know. And, as He has warned, If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea. Its inevitable that mans history will become even more unimaginably darker than it is at present. That doesnt mean that we should despair, stop fighting for whats right, or become defeated. In the end, the Creator has already won this battle. Merry Christmas!
Another pundit who thinks we all are shallow abd stupid.
He and his are about 40 (plus) years behind me in this diagnosis.
Well written response and so true, or so I believe.
