I wish I had taken a picture of the trash cans after the rally. The trash was stacked so neatly around the overflowing can it could have been a work of art. LOL!

Ugh, I *wish* we went to the 9/12 rally in 2010. Instead, we went to Glenn Beck's stupid "Restoring Honor" rally, which was held at the Lincoln Memorial.
This rally was held on 8/28/10. We live in Connecticut, so we had to pick one rally over the other - couldn't do both. We definitely made the wrong decision... I wish we went to the 9/12/10 rally instead.
Attendance at the 9/12/10 rally was drastically down from the 9/12/09 rally. The #1 reason was that so many people did the same thing we did: They went to Beck's rally in August instead, and couldn't travel back to DC a couple of weeks later. (These rallies are expensive when you don't live in the DC area!)
Glenn Beck being the cause of lower attendance at the 9/12/10 rally was widely discussed on FR, on conservative talk radio, and on Fox News, etc.
THAT was the point where I finally soured on Glenn Beck. That rally was a complete waste of time (and money, on our part). All I remember about it is Glenn Beck up there weeping and talking about love. And about himself of course. SO stupid. We had friends that actually flew in from thousands of miles away to attend this ridiculous 'Glenn Beck is a god' rally. Just the memory of it ticks me off...
Yep, that's how it was on 9/12/09 and after many other rallies we've attended in DC. :-)
The attendance at the 9/12/09 Tea Party rally was some number well over 500,000... maybe even 700,000. It was *amazing*. I've never seen anything like it, and my husband and I had been very politically active since the fall of 2000 (in DC, New York City and CT).
As I mentioned in another post to you, Glenn Beck is the main reason the attendance drastically - and unfortunately - dropped way down for the 9/12/10 Tea Party rally.
Typical Fake News. The lawn in front of the Lincoln Memorial was PACKED - you could see NO green grass at all once the rally got going. The pic was obviously taken well before the rally got started. Wikipedia makes it look like the rally was sparsely attended, which it wasn't.
There were *so many* people in DC for this (dopey) rally, we had trouble getting a hotel room well in advance, and difficulty getting a taxi from our hotel to the Lincoln Memorial. The taxi driver had to drop us off on a highway exit ramp, then we had to walk quite a distance to the Lincoln Memorial. There was complete gridlock everywhere in DC on 8/28/10 because of Beck's massive rally. I heard the Metro had a lot of trouble handling the crowds that day.
Despite all that, I'm sorry we attended this worthless rally. But it WAS well-attended. All those people should have been at the 9/12/10 rally instead... including us!
