I'm to believe her ancestors were Jews, expelled from Spain, and were dumb enough to flee to Puerto Rico which was subject to the inquisition to practice their religion openly? Pretty stupid. Wouldn't have worked. There may have been a few, living in the mountains away from the population centers. But the likelihood of Jews practicing their religion openly in any Spanish possessions pre mid 19th century is pretty low. But it's a nice story.
