We celebrate Christmas in a few weeks when Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem to register with the government as required by law. They obeyed the law as did Jesus. Jesus’s enemy was not the government, it was the existing church leadership.
“..The Leftists will love this and the Conservatives will find another church in which to worship. ..”
That is exactly what is happening. But I think that is wrong. The Church doesn’t belong to the liberal members. It was established by Jesus Christ. The conservatives should stay in the church and counter the left. Not in a radical way, but promoting the truth - God’s truth. Sometimes just your presence is all that is needed. Clergy are here today gone tomorrow. The lay people are always there. Rise up into leadership ranks and make a difference. Those who leave are displaying weakness of the person and their position.
But when the Leftists control the specific church, there is no way to rise up in leadership. Sometimes the only way to show a church, is to stop going to that church and stop giving money to them. Going political, from either side, is disastrous for the churches. My former church changed the minister but still had a tough time getting more people into the pews.
Absolutely! Jesus said not one jot or tittle from the law will be removed till all is fulfilled.
We let them do it. In the 60’s they began infiltrating all the mainline churches. They knew what they were doing. When a volunteer was needed for a committee, or teacher, or to help with some ministry or another, they are the ones who put their hands in the air and began taking over the churches. Then at the district or diocesan levels, when they need to bring up local leadership it was, again, those on the left volunteering. Once a leftie got into a position of responsibility, it was his leftie buddies he brought in to saturate the organization. They have done this in universities and government also. IMO, We can’t run away. We must stand tall and make our voice heard.
