Just damn. How this occurs in this modern age is mind friggin boggling.
Reading the reports of the US Navys recent escapades is enough to warrant bringing back flogging.

Because 4 of 5 of the Norwegian navigational officers were women, which was unusual.

I can only think you are correct. These events happened in a heavily trafficked area adjacent to a busy port. Why the RNN didn't hire salvage tugs immediately to hold the grounded ship in place while an expedient patch was put on and by then have the usual fleet of salvage and tow ships on hand to move the damaged vessel to a repair yard (there is one in the nearby port I believe) is beyond me. So there are two big problems , confusion and basic incompetence in the ship's officers and very poor damage control and salvage competency from the navy side. If I were king as they say, and Norway has a monarchy, I would have the Navy commander over for a nice private chat. I know the king is a pretty powerless by the constitution of the kingdom, however the monarch is always the courtesy admiral commander of the navy. This incident indicates really big systemic problems in the service and it is about a lot more than the role of women in the navy.

The KMN Helge Ingstad is one of five Nansen-class frigates billed as unsinkable due to its construction with water-tight zones designed to keep the warship intact and operable. For some reason I think "Unsinkable" is Sailor code for anchor. It just seems to misunderstood by us landlubbers.
