Since no additional ballots can be added to totals in FLA (court order today) it is impossible to see how recounting the same ballots already counted can spend leads of 12,000 and 34,000 votes currently held by Rep?

“Arpaio and Ward never endorsed McSally. They should have shown unity with the Republican candidate, very disappointed with both of them.”

If this is true, then the AZ GOP is an even bigger dumpster fire than I thought.

On the other hand, a lot of folks see McSally as the successor to McCain.

The fact that republican governor Ducey trounced his opponent but McSally couldn’t pull it out says some pretty bad things about McSally as a candidate.

Mr Rogers said earlier that 75% use mail-in ballots...If they have to be in BEFORE election is held, why aren’t they counted by 6 days AFTER the election???? That is why y’all really, really need to change your election system...Stop the mail-in bullshit and get off your asses and GO TO THE POLLS.....

“If they have to be in BEFORE election is held, why aren’t they counted by 6 days AFTER the election?”

They don’t start counting the mail in ballots until AFTER the Election Day ballots are counted. They then have to be opened by hand - over a million sealed envelopes to open. Takes time.

Consider this:

In 2012, McSally lost her run for the House. She conceded defeat on 17 November. Not enough votes counted before then.

In 2014, she won - on 17 December! It took that long for the votes to be counted, then an automatic recount. She won...in December.

Nothing unusual about Arizona taking a long time to count votes, including in races the Republican wins.

Oh please he was a yes only after his little drama show for a week making a deal to have the FBI investigate and postponing it longer.
He’s was nothing but a liability and attacked POTUS nonstop.
Big woop ONE time he did something right, and after making a foolish show of it.

Voter fraud or a lousy GOP candidate. Ducey, the Rep candidate for Governor, received 1.2 million votes so far. McSally has received 1,039,778 votes, or about 160,000 votes less than Ducey. The total votes cast in the Senate race approximate the total votes cast in the gubernatorial race, i.e., around 2.1 million.

IMO the issue is not voter fraud in AZ, but rather, a weak Rep candidate. It is worth remembering that Sinema won her AZ 9th Congressional District in 2016 61% to 39%. 160K votes to 108K votes. McSally won the 2nd Cong District 57% to 43%. 180K to 136K.

In 2018, the Reps lost McSally's old seat 54% to 46%. The Dems retained Sinema's old seat 61% to 39%. That says a lot to me.

Flake out of the Senate is a pick up. Ben Sasse out of the Senate would also be a Trump pick up. Hopefully we can replace them with someone who will vote with Trump but I’m sick of these people using their platform to attack Trump.

you are feeling, not thinking. and emotion is somewhat immune to logic. as a practical matter, a sh*tty republican is better than a whacked out liberal any day.

It's not Californians so much. It is Illinois transplants. We've been getting Californians for many years and we've been 30% hispanic since forever.

The Illinois transplants are completely remaking this into somewhere you don't want to be.

Ward did an ad for McSally. I heard it for the first time 2 days before the election, IIRC. Too late to be much good in a state where most people have voted a week before Election Day.

Here were the early votes by Party Registration:

Dem = 495,013
Ind = 345,201
Rep = 611,022
Total 1,451,236

My crude analysis the day before the Election (emailed to some friends):

The last CNN poll said Sinema 52% to 44% McSally. If so, Sinema would have around 674,500 votes so far, and McSally would be around 763,000. That would give McSally 52.5% of the total vote, with around 75% of the votes already cast.

I thought McSally had it in the bag. If she had a 5% lead going into Election Day, then Sinema would need to win by 15% to break even.

But that assumed Republicans all voted for McSally. Obviously they did not. And the early the vote was cast, the more likely it seems to have been for Sinema.

One thing that hurt McSally: A bitter primary fight that ended in late August. McSally took 51% in the primary. And then needed to convince the other 49% to vote for her with ballots being cast by mid-October.

Meanwhile, Sinema ran ads unopposed all summer long.

So....36,000 ballots just happened to show up 5 days after the election???

Yeah. So what happened? Did Democrats manufacture extra votes? The Republicans can't be everywhere. The same thing was going to happen during Bush vs Gore recount back in 2000 but that time Republicans were watching everything.

No, there is absolutely no chance of getting rid of a bad Republican Senator if you never vote them out. If you vote them out and run the risk of losing the seat then so be it. Getting a seat is not permanent. Start finding good candidates to rid of Sasse who will win the general. Otherwise you’ll lose the seat but at least Sasse will be gone.

Hell, I don’t know what happened...I just found out that 75% of Arizona ballots are mail-ins...That is the most stupid thing I’ve heard...That is wide open to fraud...

“You need to change your voting system.....”

I tried mail in ballots this year. I think I’ll go back to Election Day voting and would support 100% voting on Election Day only, with our current picture ID laws. But McSally isn’t losing because of the system. She lost by having a bitter primary fight while Sinema ran months of ads portraying her as a moderate. McSally’s personality is poor. She ran a poor campaign. And our primary needs to take place more than 6 weeks before voting starts.
