If that is true, then among so many other things wrong it exposes yet another complete failure on the part of the media to report on the stories accurately. It takes nothing at all to add a couple of sentences to the stories stating that “the total vote count is known 30 minutes after polls close” and “the count is supposed to be posted publicly”, let alone for an intrepid reporter to gather the tallies and add up the count herself - just to check the stats against what the government says.
What does he mean by “talley” [sic]. Does that mean the vote counts for each candidate/measure? Or just the total ballots cast?
Where I vote, and I assume its similar everywhere, they have 2 books and they cross your name off the books when you are handed your ballot. I had to sign my name in the book. This would be yet another method to verify and validate the number of ballots.
I’m also dismayed there is little known about how they handle the ballots. They should be kept quarantined, box for box and precinct by precinct. The media makes it sounds like they are all dumped into one big pile.
The media is focused on the sensational aspects, almost none of them are being faithful advocates for the people and a check on abuse of power. I’m sure the term “4th estate” didn’t mean that media moguls get to have 4 mansions.
