The smoke has reached here, yes. Combination of a large fire and some serious winds. As I noted earlier, we had some heavy winds yesterday from the east and north, pushing it this way.

Just looked out my window and the sky is a lovely shade of gray, even though it’s allegedly sunny.

Fire is now reported at 70K acres. Huge for one day of fire. The town of Magalia now threatened/on fire. Only five percent containemnt. More in likely in the South east where teh Fire threatened Durham and Chico over night.

6,453 Residential structures lost. 260 commercial structures lost. 6,713 (1/2)

So Campfire is the most destructive in CA history

I was just speaking with a friend down in California. He said he had done some work up in Paradise many years ago. He thought at the time that it looked like a fire just waiting to happen with all of the trees so near the buildings.

update: strong NE winds will pick up this evening again.. I’m concerned that the fire will move more south today and by the time the winds pick up might be position to impact Oroville area..of course it will have to jump the lake but the lake is really just a river in some parts away from the DAM

CALFIRE just mentioned this too

Thanks to both you guys. I grew up there in the Mt Diablo Valley.

It was amazing to me that Walnut Creek and environs was experiencing smoke from about 140 miles away.

I'm 50 miles or so due east of the Woolsey fire and have seen or smelled nothing. Orange moon (crescent) is the only thing telling.

I found a satellite photo that shows exactly why.

Amazing, isn't it. The smoke blows right down to Mt Diablo and then hits another current that turns it around and takes it out to sea.
