Simple really: it’s a painful injury.
I broke one rib at 18 years old and the pain was extreme. For a woman in her mid-80’s to break three, and not go to hospital for a day rates my respect for her physical endurance and toughness.
I didn’t speculate, nor do I care how she received the injury. None of my business really.
As for my injury, it was a reminder that they are called “laws” of physics for a reason, and that running down a tile floored hallway in stocking feet pursued by a 250 lb rugby player is generally a bad idea...
