Children born on US soil of citizens and LPRs (”legal permanent residents”), like Wong Kim Ark, should be citizens. Why? Being legal permanent residents didn't prevent his parents from returning to their home country.
What possible logic could there be in separating a child from the natural Allegiance of his parents and giving him a citizenship he doesn't even have the legal ability to ask for?
