“Well said. Ball ammo for me as well. Fancy stuff could be used to prove intent.”
Only a problem if you have ‘widow-maker’ engraved on your gun and a ‘make my day’ tattoo.
Evidence is he only had the one round.
So was Audy Murphy - grew up dirt poor in Texas - shooting squirrels for the table as a little boy

My Dad and his Dad used to hunt squirrel, pheasant and rabbit for food, everyday, in Emigsville, PA, back in the late-20s & 30s. With a 10ga, single barrel. I have that firearm now, in my collection.
Note about shooting at things instead of an identifiable human threat. A combination of anger and alcohol can be a big part of this.
In this case, while he was in his truck, not really the best place to be in a gunfight, based on the bullet holes, the guy shooting at him was not advancing, but trying to keep his distance, both with his ranged weapon and his pistol. At some point, this allowed the guy in the truck to recover his rifle and *aim* it at the aggressor with intent to make his one shot count.
How improbable. I’m thinking that after getting his rifle, he escaped out the passenger door unseen by the aggressor, then maybe got into a prone position shooting underneath his truck, with an eye to fleeing if he missed.
It will be very interesting to see if the details come out.
I WAS RAISED BY MY GRANDPARENTS ON A NORTH WOODS FARM BUILT BY MY GREAT GRANDFATHER IN 1848.
GRAMPA WAS A MAINE GUIDE - UNCLES AND COUSINS GAME WARDENS, GUIDE.
OUR FOODS CAME FROM THE LAND, THE WOODS, THE WATERS, BARNS AND HEN HOUSES.
AND THANK YOU GOD.
(and a few years ago, at age 80, I attended classes for my CC. I was the only woman in the classes. I outshot them all. ;) ..)
Nice job!
One of my favorite internet personalities. I get a lot of vicarious enjoyment watching him shoot because he loves it so much. Hickok45 reminds me in a way of Bob Ross of PBS Joy of Painting fame. Both have so much fun doing their thing and each is so skilled that it is a joy to watch them. Plus, each has a very likeable personality although Ross' was quite quirky and Hickok45's is quite down-to-earth.
