Most of the Hispanics that I know personally, and quite a few of them at that, are very conservative people. And they don’t like “wetbacks”. Their term, not mine. Even though they still love their Spanish culture, they DO consider themselves Americans. A good many of the Hispanics whether here or in Mexico are of Indian descent to a large degree, but they don’t identify themselves as such as much as they do Hispanic.
My comadre sees herself as Hispanic despite her grandfather being an Indian Chief.
In any event, the article is accurate in terms of the Americanized Hispanics resenting illegals.
