Well, right off the top, I think it tells us that at some level the Left (or many on the Left) realize they cannot win at the ballot box with their present platform, such as it is.
Oh, and BTW, though we say the Left has no real platform except hating Trump, we would be wrong. Just because those on the Left don't clearly enunciated their platform doesn't mean they don't have one.
They clearly have one. And it is interesting to note that they seem to intuitively know that their platform is best kept hidden (for the time being).
From the popularity of Bernie Sanders in the last election, it appears that the platform of the Left is the one presented by him and, more recently, by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Their platform is Democratic Socialism.
If the Left's platform is Democratic Socialism, it is pretty easy to see why they can't win at the ballot box. Socialism isn't compatible with the U.S. Constitution. The Guarantee Clause of the US Constitution--Article 4, Section 4, Clause 1 says the following: The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government (Source).
If I understand this correctly, this means that the "people" call the shots through elections and the power doesn't reside with the government as it must under Socialism.
The anger of the Left tells us that they realize that their platform cannot be implemented by anything other than the violent overthrow of our Constitution and those who would defend it.
Whether the rank and file on the Left realize this or not is irrelevant. Those who are in leadership roles know it and they are angry. And that anger is trickling down to the foot soldiers.
