I hope that somebody takes Flake aside and tells him that if he ever has desires to become a DC lobbyist, word will go out that no Republican will take his call if he screws this up.
I hope someone points out that he's retiring because his polling was so low in Arizona, so if he thinks he's going to be able to go back home and establish himself in business, he better not screw this up or his own fellow Arizonans will blackball him forever.

He's trying to find out from Coons how fast he can officially become a Democrat.

What is this guy’s problem? He’s leaving the Senate, he doesn’t have to worry about re-election. Is he trying to get a job offer from deep pockets Soros for his post-senate career?

Any Republicans still having issues with this must still be struggling with their belief in the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny.

Flake is still having issues.
One with him on the front page of the Post.
Another with him on the front page of the NY Times.

Does he really need his hand held or is he that stupid?

The only issue he’s having is that he’s afraid Coons and the other handlers who’ve latched on to this weakling are going to yell at him if he votes yes......

Sen Coons tells me just now that Flake reached out to him and asked if they could speak at length later.Fully scripted.
This has nothing to do with the Supreme Court and everything to do with Flake's future political and business opportunities.

Doesn’t he know that he will hurt his beloved democrat party more if he votes “no” instead of “yes”????

I can’t tell everyone that BK is getting the nod this weekend. He could still lose the vote.
However....he WILL be on SCOTUS. Either now, or after the new larger majority R Senate is seated after the Dems suffer an electoral massacre for what they did. Then BK gets renominated and railroaded through. No one will consult with Flake, who will be gone, or Murkowski, because she won’t matter anymore.
One way or another, BK ***will*** be on SCOTUS. It’s up to the Dems and the RINOs to decide how painful they’d like it to be.

Ok - I know this is probably a wishful fantasy. But wouldn't it be delicious if the GOP finally learned how to play this game? In other words, by pretending that some of these "on-the-fence" wafflers haven't yet made up their mind, it doesn't give the Dems a chance to decide which of their at-risk senators can vote yes or no without much impact before the vote actually takes place.
I think if cloture is voted on by a partyline vote without being certain of the vote to confirm on the GOP side, it puts the onus on individual Dem senators to make their best judgment.
Remember a vote for cloture is not a vote to confirm. Just means they're definitely going to vote.
