My cows said they were born this way and that removing their chance to choose was a form of digestivist oppression.

A single cow produces the equivalent of about three tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, says Agolin, based in Biere, near Lausanne.

WTF!
I saw the title and I was about to come in here and praise someone for actually wanting to do something about a REAL greenhouse gas, methane, because cows are purported to emit a lot of it. Here I read the article excerpt and it’s the same old BS focus on CO2 which has negligible greenhouse properties and redily feeds into the eco-systems beneficially anyway.
So here we have cows helping plants, and they want to stop it.

This stuff is so misleading. Are you talking cattle on feed, on range, in dairy lots, what? The biggest methane source is dairy ponds, not the cattle/cows. Well managed cattle/pasture actually sequester more carbon than they produce. Environmentalism IS socialism. It is all about controlling the means of production.
