Longtime residents of Dewey Beach, a Delaware resort known in the late 1980s as a place where the college students who worked the other resorts lived and partied, remember her nights waitressing at the Waterfront, a raucous bayside bar.
“Things that would be considered out of hand today was OK back then. Things have changed,” said a man who encountered Ms. Blasey Ford during those years, speaking to The Washington Times on the condition of anonymity. “That was the yuppie period of time, and Dewey Beach was a yuppie town, and weekend warriors were coming down from D.C. It was their Vegas.”
Ms. Blasey Ford was a popular figure on the Dewey Beach bar scene.
She once got caught in a romantic triangle that culminated with the two men getting into a fistfight over her, according to people familiar with the incident.
“She enjoyed the Dewey Beach nightlife,” said another resident speaking on the condition of anonymity. The resident, now a restaurant owner, added that the town was “pretty wild” in those days.

I would think so. That is normally how Country Clubs work. If she brought friends to the club it is likely the club would have billed for a guest fee. It is possible they made the guest sign in.

I graduated in the early 80’s as well... yes there were themes the senior class yearbook editors would set. I actually went to two different catholic high schools, I’ll tell you the first one had a bi-weekly news letter with a gossip page. Only initials were used, but it was a veritable who was with who, and often hinted at more inappropriate behavior. I always suspected some of this was just to see how far they could push things before the nuns interceded.

lol I’ve been to Dewey Beach post college. My friends who had shares in the beach houses would invite me down. It wasn’t my scene, I went a few times in the mid 90’s. People got so drunk it was pathetic, these weren’t kids either. Dewey was full of people in their mid twenties to early 40’s. I was already married, and had had two children... so I always left feeling sorry for a bunch of lonely people.

Let’s create a fund to cover her security expenses, to do just a bit to make it easier for women in her position to come forward despite great risks. If we raise more than Dr. Blasey needs, extra funds will go to women’s organizations and/or into an account to cover similar costs incurred in comparable situations.
I do not know Dr. Blasey personally but will contact her via her former high school, Holton Arms, to inform her of this fundraising appeal and to make arrangements to transfer funds to Dr. Blasey.

People without wealth did not usually belong to that Country Club or go to very expensive Holton Arms. Some of the houses in that area were not large but they cost a lot more than if they had been in a less desirable neighborhood.
I read (truth? Who knows) that Ford does not get along with her parents as they are Republicans. That would be a reasonable explanation of their absence in this situation.
