I thought that was what I wrote?
Anyway, my point was the 500 million people without power couldnt be due to Floridians :-)
For sure there are many older parts of the city that are along the river. There’s about 7 bluffs to the north and west where the city expanded in the 1940’s and since.
If the river tops it’s banks it will be mostly low income property on the west side and country folk on the east side that get flooded out.
...exactly the sorts of people who don’t evacuate.
...from the warning...”moving NE at 60 mph”.
This will get ahead of the warning system.
They have to go up to avoid the surge and flooding, but need protection from fast moving tornados that are difficult to see, much less forecast.
I’m thinking concrete lined stairwells and elevator shafts. Parking garages often have concrete stairwells.

A real problem with that much rain.
I was watching and waiting for thread 1 starting a couple of days ago. I never saw it. I thought maybe FR had given up on Hurricane threads. Glad to see one up now.
Yes indeed. That pic explains a lot., and that was early on. Thank you. Ill have to check out Winfy.
Florence. The short form of that is Flo. Flo is the spokesperson for Progressive Insurance. Therefore, progressives are complicit in the hurricane.
The first thread was posted Sept. 9. I always assign keyword tropical, and usually also assign keyword hurricane. OR you can search posts via User NautiNurse. The storm was waaaaay too far out in the Atlantic to post the first thread in Breaking News. It was in Front Page news, however. I defer to the Mods to decide where the hurricane threads should land.
So far, sunny and mild in Atlanta GA.
Who writes these things......someone in Jr High?
First fatalities are being reported now: 2 people in Wilmington... house collapse.
