Texas is almost 40% Hispanic.

That figure counts illegals...among registered voters hispanics are are still a small minority. about 20%.

I want to know how any statewide D plans to overcome a 150,000 R registration advantsge.

Can’t do it with indies.

Except I have tracked a steady R registration advantage for a year & a half.

I am skeptical of claims that large #s of voters switch for primaries. For most people, registering alone is a pain. But to do it 3x?? (Register D, switch to R, switch back?)

I don’t see it.

Re: “Ocasio-Cortez and Pressly didn’t win because they were socialists. They won because Crowley and Capuano were white.”

Excellent insight, which I completely missed.

Thanks for tuning out the major media and thinking independently.

I thought more about your point & I think we can prove there was no “primary party switching”: there was no sudden surge of any kind in R registration in July/Aug-—just normal growth typical of previous 18 months.

But there WAS a March-Aug. surge in Ds registration. So just the opposite of what you fear occurred: despite a big push by Ds, they STILL came up 140,000 short!

In January 2008 I switched from (R) to (D) and then back to (R) to vote for Obama in the NH Primary, because I figured he was the only one McCain could beat easily.

Re: “Among registered voters Texas Hispanics are still a small minority - about 20%.”

I agree.

I would also agree that Texas Hispanics are more Conservative than in other states, except Florida, which has a large block of GOP Cuban voters.

I was trying to keep my previous Comment simple.

You may regret enticing me to write more about one of my favorite subjects!

(1) Almost 30% of eligible Texas Hispanic voters are not registered.

(2) Black and Hispanic eligible voters combined make up at least 34% of the total eligible voters in Texas. Black and Hispanic registration is much lower - only about 25%.

(3) Nationally, Hispanic voters have the lowest turn out of any ethnic group.

(4) A solid majority of the people who die each day in Texas are white Republicans.

(5) A solid majority of the people who turn 18 years old each day in Texas are non-white Democrats.

(6) Nationally, white Conservatives have the highest voter registration and the highest turn out of any other ethnic group.

Bottom Line...

Democracy is a simple math problem.

When Blacks and Hispanics register and turn out at the same rate as Conservatives, we will be politically dead.

Thanks.

The info I provided and I am not claiming it is true was from educrats posting on FB how they switched to R for the primary only.

A lot of hot air, IMO.

This was “Operation Chaos” but I’d be surprised if many people did this.

At any rate it isn’t reflected in monthly $s in AZ or FL, for example.
