That’s likely a big part of it too.

During the Bush Administration, his opposition had no problem calling him Chimpy McBushitler, because they knew there wouldn't be no political fallout.

When Obama became President, anyone who criticized him were threatened with legal action (Dinesh D'Souza having to go to prison for his film, weaponized IRS audits and FBI investigations and CIA dirty tricks, etc). On a personal level, I had family members warn me against criticizing Obama because they were afraid of the consequences (I was a regular anti-Clinton letters to the editor writer in the 1990's).

Now that Donald Trump is President, there's no threat to anyone to have their lives destroyed by an out-of-control government (the way it would've been with Hillary).

There are still plenty of vile scumbags in government.

Hatred of Trump stems from his sometimes abrasive personality and behavior. If you slap him he will pummel you into the ground. He is not genteel nor is he afraid of a fight. He seems to relish it. Obama insulted George W. Bush and Romney with no push back. Trump would have wiped ip the floor with Obama. Trump is an alley cat and intimidating It is not always comfortable to watch but it works.

And they aren’t good at it. Trump comes along and says, “Hey, let me give it a try” — and he wipes the floor with all of them. Sure they hate him now.

Yep. Kinda reminds me of the Karate Kid catching the fly with chopsticks on his first try.

Another plus from Trump.

All the human garbage posing as “conservatives” over the years in media and elsewhere are now fully outed.

There seems to be several strands to the hate DJT narrative. The upper middle class is full of gravitas types who think their very modulated speech patterns and good table manners mark them as truly special people. DJT who has a bark on fighters disposition similar to Andrew Jackson just appalls them. He is rude and uncouth, oh the horror, he punches back rather than be a good pubby and just shrug off some outrageous rat lie. These people's identity is based on their lifestyle and their brittle shallow social conventions. They are the classic stuffed shirt country club pompous self important snobs.

The really rich guys are furious because Trump is interfering with their game. There is nothing as angry as a corporate titan who finds that he has come in a quarter point below his projected earnings. These people are truly brass knuckle types under the veneer of upper class good manners. Old man Bush, Prescott Bush, was a classic example of this type. A real bully and tyrant in private the smooth mannered aristocrat in public. For these types Trump is out of his place and they truly hate him.

Beside leftist fanatics there are a lot of do gooding types that support the donkeys because they ‘feel’ we must do something for all the po, po, people. One of my wife's acquaintances is a good example of this. Comfortable middle class life style , she truly believes the USA should ‘welcome’ all peoples who want to come here to’better their lives and the lives of their children’. To her this is our duty as the richest nation in the world as we have so much and so many have so little. This sort of politics as a sop to bad conscience is pretty powerful. Trump she hates because he is ‘mean’ and has ‘ugly prejudiced attitudes’ towards the po, po, people.

There are other Trump hater subgroups but these are some of what I see as the most significant.
