Anyone who has been in the military knows you don’t keep the same security access when you move from job to job. You don’t take a job as a drill sergeant and try to walk into an ops center like you did when you were a division ops nco. You no longer have access. You must have a need to know.
Americans don’t have as many with military experience as in the past, but word gets around from those that do about how the system works. Plus, it’s logical. Need to know is perfectly logical
Proposed DRAFT
Presidential Executive Order
Effective IMMEDIATELY
ALL Security Clearances and access authority to secure government locations containing classified sensitive information are hereby recalled and void pertaining to any former military personnel no longer on active duty or in Reserve status or flagged for adverse actions, former government civil servants and political appointees in any capacity, former government contractors and former elected officials or elected officials who no longer serve on select committees where security clearances and access to classified sensitive information may be required.
Signed,
Donald J. Trump
POTUS
I was a contractor to a 3 letter agency for over 30 years with access up to secret compartmented information, and was detailed to be a fed for a time. The day I retired I was read out of ALL my clearances and compartments. Also during that time I was polygraphed 8 times, several random most were due to the information I was working with. Few things in life are more physically and mentally/emotionally draining. I didn’t care for it. It always amazed me that my bosses at the agency were under the same rules as I was but somehow polys never seemed to happen to them, and NEVER to congress or their aids.
It’s ONLY *surprising* to the D.C./media bubble.
Those living in the real world understand when one is no longer working for X, they remove the ACCESS.
Govt won’t even follow the same rules/laws/regs is places on BIZ (doc.\e-mail retention, audits, etc. They’d be on any biz like flies on s*...Govt does the same and it’s “Oops”).
Brennan should have had his clearance revoked administratively on the day his term was up. Then, and only then, should the president have reviewed the correctness of that decision and determined whether to restore it for presidental convenience or not.
The ‘Right thing to do” is right if you are the Only person doing it, support for virtue is meaningless.
Now any leaker to Brennan with a valid Security Clearance will be putting his/her/its job on the line and facing a possible prison sentence.
Thanks to Donna for the above.
And, from what little I've seen in the "news" so far today, they're certainly hard at it.
“I could be wrong, but I believe it means sharing any information that requires such a clearance, with Comrade Brennan, oops Mr. Brennan would be a crime.”
Also, as a known Commie and Jihadist, Brennan had zero need for any classified intel.
Anyone who shared any classified intel with the Commie/Jihadist did so in violation of our secrecy rules.
That's pretty much it right there. What is curtailed is Brennan's ability to leak, not to speak. That's a lot bigger deal to media who are accustomed to that source of illicit information than it is to anyone else.
What I find astonishing is the sheer brazenness of it all. Apparently the open abuse of a public trust for one's personal and/or political gain has become so prevalent that they don't even try to hide it anymore. If Trump were remotely what these malcontents say he is, they'd be facing a Soviet-style retirement party in the Lubyanka basement.
So rare for anyone to speak up.
Supposedly so the cranky old tard could consult with his successors and advise them if they were asked something about......
Nobody in their right mind would consult with Brennon about anything except sedition and treason. And maybe communism too. And he could probably answer why Hussein Obama supported Islamic terrorism and why Hussein worked to give Iran nuclear weapons.
When I left my last command, I was debriefed and all my TS special category clearances went away.
DoodleDawg, you either feign ingorance OR you truly are!
Same here. I wasn’t given the option of holding on to my clearances in order to get a great job. I was debriefed and *poof*. Dem clearances were gone.
The only thing President Trump did wrong in taking away his clearance was waiting this long to do it. Clapper and Comey should have had theirs revoked after the Grassley Memo was released revealing that scam they pulled with CNN.
