Come on, Kurt. We are not a "Democracy". The Constitution creates a federal republic which "shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government" (Art. IV, Section 4).

Republics everywhere. Not a Democracy anywhere.

The Founders were not historically ignorant. They read Greek and Roman classics and were quite familiar with what distinguishes a democracy from a republic.
