A planned central economy based on the manufacture and exports of durable goods that their own citizens cannot afford. Couple that with the lack of petroleum and low food production, makes a trade war with the U.S. a recipe for disaster.

We can skip buying plastic junk at Wal-Mart and Amazon and get along just fine. We’ll still have beef, chicken, fish, pork, shellfish and plenty of starches and vegetables.

I suspect that China’s “capitalists” who own the various companies are party officials. We may soon find out how secure Xi’s hold on power is, when the business ventures of his officials and generals start going bust.

I could not have said it better myself. Except I would have added a statement on the trade imbalance and corrupt banking.

Has anyone else come to the realization as to just how utterly inept, weak, and possibly corrupt the previous four Presidents were on trade?
China doesn't produce anything on their own. All their technology was given to them by the Clintons or they stole it. CTH said the U.S. was the only self-sustaining economy in the world. In fact, we don't need to trade with anybody. We can make pretty much what we import now, and there will be consumers to buy it, providing of course, the welfare state is abolished.

I can vouch for that. It is true that trumps trade war caused turmoil among CCP. I also read some rumor that trump wants to unseal names of high level CCP leaders who have big bank accounts in US and Europe if Xi does not yield. US adminstration did this to Russians in the past. If it is true, this is the most powerful leverage to China. It is the deal they cant refuse

The Communist Party of China is somewhat like the Commission that used to coordinate Mafia Families in the USA.
Each member of the Politburo is personally a billionaire, who runs a large patronage network of their own rackets, like the head of a crime family. Each can have people killed.
If their business is seriously threatened, somebody is seriously going to get killed.
Deng Xiao Ping established a truce between these factions, where they agreed to prey on the population and foreigners, but to refrain from violence (or any legal enforcement) against any of the “made men” within the other factions.
President Xi has recently accumulated more power personally than any individual since Mao, but all the men around him are still ruthless gangsters, with their own interests, and a lot of loyalists who depend on them.

I've had a personal boycott of cheezy commie crap ever since Wally World was busted relabeling goods from China..made in America.
Autos, furniture, appliances...all American made. Sometimes ya got no choice...but hey, if we all at least try, we can bust China's balls.

Partner, it will be a disaster for the Chicoms since they are facing one of the toughest presidents we have had since "President Teddy Roosevelt" and we really like what President Trump is doing to the Chicom economy.
Partner, they need us more than we need them even though the "Dawg" gave them a lot of U.S. technology!
Also, the America Hating Piece of Work Obama gave the Chicoms a lot of our technology.
The Republican Rinos like Paul Rino and Mitch McConJob are watching all of this and still do not lift a finger to help President Trump, who BTW, is a non politician.
With friends like these who needs enemies!!!

GE Appliances is owned by Haier a Chinese company. Samsung, LG, Volvo, Ford & GM all manufacture products in China for U.S. sales.
There are many other manufacturers that do this and the information is easy to find.
