There is no moral equivalency between people who oppose pedophilia, and a party which contains people who would legalize it yesterday if they could.

Let me treat this as an example. What if the people who oppose pedophilia don't actually proffer any divine power to that end, relying solely on the arm of flesh. Who hurts the world the worst in the end? Don't we get more indignant to hear about it happening in churches than we do to hear about it happening on the streets of San Francisco?

I’m talking politics, not religion. My faith informs everything I do, but I have to recognize that not everyone on “my side” politically shares my faith, or even has religious faith.

It’s not logical to understand your subject before preaching it?

Jesus disagreed.

Are you hiding your lack of effective communion with God behind a hypocrisy of politics, perhaps?

Who comes first? God or Caesar? They are not co-equals.

I would of course love it if everyone shared what I believe to be eternal salvation in faith in the Blood of Jesus, but for secular matters, that’s not the case. For secular matters, I am grateful that they share my belief in what’s evil, and in opposition to it.

It is nice to be glad you have a supply of band-aids, not so nice that you aren’t showing everyone who the Doctor is.

You need to get beyond the point where “you” would love it, and get to the point where you know beyond the shadow of a doubt that GOD would love it.

“There is no moral equivalency between the right and what the left is currently doing, “

Yeah, well that point isn’t shared by HTR who appears to be in the throes of some peculiar epiphany:

“Both left and right are virtually godless... the right might actually be more odious to God in one sense, having a form of religion but denying its power. Being proudly atheistic might be more honest.”

Ma’am, God virtually forced me into a choice, yet leaving the final choice to me.

God let the devil shoot so hard at me that I had two choices: give up, or recover my first love. I chose the latter, finding the former intolerable.

Suddenly I began to see the door to grace that I had ignored, because I had been looking for a place to ask for what I wanted rather than to ask for what God wanted. Taking on the mind of Christ is a bootstrapping process. Even if God has to force it through a satanic attack. I’m hoping that some might see where I have been and be spared the pressure of a satanic attack themselves before they hide, once and for all, in Christ.

But that, in fact (in an oblique reference to your tag) is to let yourself be... “reconstructed,” and to... “give a damn.”

Yep, peculiar. Peculiar to the bible. Which a lot of people give lip service too.

It’s because we really haven’t had intense satanic attacks upon us that we really haven’t put up the armor like the life of our soul depended on it.

But oh, when we do... things change. Sometimes very quickly!

I wouldn’t know why one couldn’t furnish commentary of that or a different kind alongside of it. “This is what is possible, but by the heart of God we urge you to come to Him and not go back to the devil.”

And each person has to come to that recognition for themselves, if they do. No one else can do it for them. Islam is a religion which tries to force people to express convictions which they don’t themselves really hold. The grace of God for eternal salvation doesn’t work that way.

I am allowing myself to be inveigled into a religious debate on a political forum, and I don’t like that, so I will now cease and desist.

The left isn’t liberal.

Ditto! It annoys me when the Right even refers to them as “liberals” for in most cases they just aren’t. They are Leftists...that is to say secularists with very confused (mostly reprobate) sense of morality.

Too bad you deem the most important Subject in the universe to be denigrated into what you call “a religious debate.”

This is something I have complained about too. It’s like calling a certain grim following “gay.”

Christians have every reason to be merry and gay in the original sense, stopping only when they need to bear a burden unto God.

Pseudo-liberals might be a better way to put it. Christians should know how to have liberality in the godly sense.

As for inveigling... that’s not God action. That’s Satan action. Watch what you apply your terms to!

There is such a thing as the divine pressure of Spirit. Who was it who said in fear "You will soon convince me to become a Christian"? Mistaking what the Spirit was saying for what the human speaker was (doubtless with some clumsiness) uttering.

Don't confuse political domain with Spirit domain. And Spirit doesn't always come when and where you schedule Him. Don't tell Spirit to only talk to you in church on Sunday. And with that I leave the rest to Spirit.

mrsmel is evidently taking to heart Jesus’ admonition not to behave like a pharisee on a street corner.

Personally HTR strikes me as having all the religiosity of a TV preacher and maybe the same depth. He does deserve credit for diverting the thread entirely away from Barone’s article and into Ned Flanders’ Neighborhood.
