I saw that someone had been arrested for starting the Cranston fire, but the fire threatening Redding is the Carr fire. I haven’t seen anything about an arson arrest in the Carr fire (yet).
Democrats certainly know how to run a state.
Spoken like a hard core capitalist - things are more important than people.
Heard on the radio this morning that a group of fire fighters from CT is heading to CO to fight a wild fire out there.
Bad year for wild fires.
I think that is for the fire in southern CA.. The Redding fore was caused by a flat tire issue. At least that’s what I read online...
That surprises me, a flat tire starting that fire?
Been trying to use smartphone to do some research. Because you would think that had all the makings of a set by seeing the pictures.
I was told by someone in Burney, Ca that the tire went flat, they drove on the rim which caused a spark which started the fire.
Yes, thank God Colorado has been receiving rains for past week...but different parts of state receive differing amounts of rain.
A car got a flat tire, pulled off to the side of the road, and roadside brush was ignited (likely by the car’s catalytic convertor or exhaust manifold.) It is a repeated story in California.
Yep, that a first for me to learn. When it came to cars and wild fires, it was from a thrown out cigarette butt, or those who were smoking them, a pot butt.
Well DUH!!!!
If Trump stays in office we're ALL GONNA DIE!!!
All of us, not just a bunch of redneck hicks in the red part of California.
Where are your priorities, man???
Futher correction: the makings of.
A flat can be the root cause.
Directly, if the rim is sparking on the pavement.
More likely if the driver pulls off the pavement and the 1000° catalytic converter touched dry grass. California doesn’t have a wide buffer of closely trimmed grass on the shoulders like those stupid people in flyover country. Tall grass is nature, and one must let nature be nature, duuude.
now 44,000 acres , 3% contained, 2nd death reported
winds look calm right now, humidity up with overnight cooler temps
but red flag warning today with highs 110, low humdiity and winds gusting to 20-25 MPH
having followed these fires many years..most of the damage is done the first night/day when the fire gets out of control before there is time to get the resources in there..
unless of course there are santa ana type winds(different name up north) but that isn’t the case today
hopefully the worst of the damage is done and air resources can attack the fire at sunrise
I should add that conditions today, like yesterday, may mean plume dominated fire..which means a large heat cloud will form..then collaspe fanning winds out
they haven’t left and not asked to leave. “”
I used to live in N Calif foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Fire was ALWAYS on your mind. When we heard the ‘scout planes’, we always went outside to see what direction they were heading. The borade planes would follow the scout planes. There is a huge underground tank system for borade at the Nevada City airport, and planes could land, turn around & take off again in less than 5 minutes with the high volume pumps that loaded the borade. Very efficient.
I have NEVER understood the mentality of ‘I don’t have to leave until SOMEONE ELSE TELLS me to leave’. Does anyone living in America today have ANY sense of personal responsibility? Or survival?
GET OUT !!!!!-—there is plenty of information that is telling you it isn’t safe. Get out while you can. Pack your important papers ahead of time in ONE container...Have a go bag packed already in your car. Don’t forget your pets needs. IT ISN’T THAT DIFFICULT, PEOPLE !!! I have one Rubbermaid container that has my most important papers inside-—birth certificate, divorce papers, home ownership/purchase papers, registrations on my horses, my will, historical abstract document of the property I grew up on,inventory of everything I own, and that container isn’t that big. I got evacuated 3 years ago due to a crazy woman setting her brother’s house & garage on fire-—next door to me.
The very FIRST container I put into my truck was that Rubbermaid container. I had to hitch up to my trailer, gather up my horses & weapons & get out. ALL the papers pertaining to a local Non-Profit I was involved with were also at my house. Neighbors came & gathered all of those up & drove my car out. Took less than 45 minutes, and fire didn’t jump to my property, but the point is:
I have the most important papers with me in ONE CONTAINER. I also have a complete inventory of everything I own. 67 pages in single line on my computer. 5 people in different parts of the country have copies of that inventory if I need it.
People who got burned out in the fires near Santa Rosa are still fighting with the insurance companies about the CONTENTS of their homes & garages. Don’t be so lazy, people, An inventory isn’t that difficult to do.
When the fires hit Santa Barbara & Montecito last year, I fully remember people being interviewed by ‘the media’.
One lady was totally incensed that “the Sheriff or someone had NOT come directly to HER door & helped her get out. She DIDN’T KNOW she was supposed to leave.!!” Her property was completely burned out. She BARELY escaped. She wouldn’t quit talking about how the ‘authorities’ didn’t take care of HER & other people. Snowflakes & inept people come in all ages & colors.
Prayers going to the Lord for safety and rain.

Who do you think? Some local mayor or city councilman? I get so sick of you Monday morning quarterbacks. I've lived all but 3 of my 68 years in California. I've even fought fires in the dry brush of CA in my youth. You have zero idea how devastating these infernos are, especially in 60 mph winds. Watch the movie, "Only The Brave" and you'll get some idea. The most elite CA fire crew were incinerated. STFU.
I agree with you. They should leave the area on their own reasoning. Though they where not leaving the area at the time I posted that. The roads where clear. Meaning most haven’t left yet.
