“the bloc would be ready to discuss mutual tariff cuts with the United States across a range of products, provided Washington lifts recent punitive tariffs first.”

“ready to discuss” if we go first? Screw that. You cut, we cut at the time time.

VAT are tariffs.
Trump has been pointing this out, and their ox is being gored.
Americans weren’t supposed to bring that up.

Crops have been GMO’d since the beginning of time. When man domesticated, the first thing he did was try to improve the strains of his grain and livestock. The rice grown in India today is not the rice of 2000 years ago. Neither is the tea.

But if you’re talking pesticide-related GMO, then I love the EU for wanting heirloom and organic product (of which the USA is the leading industry driver). Producers can charge 3 or 5 times the price - makes the producers smile and the laborers, too! In other words, it’s a barrier to certain products, but an open door to higher profit (and wages) on other products - and that, makes the world go around. We can supply what they want so Eat up, EU !!

Interesting.

I’m a free trade anti-tariff believer, but hope Trump is successful with his approach.

Taking a step back, selective breeding (that's what you are talking about in the first paragraph) has been around for centuries. That is cross-breeding individual animals or plants which exhibit sought after traits hoping to develop better characteristics in the next generation. That is not GMO or a genetically modified organism (I disagree with the Wikis characterization of it).

"Genetic engineering, sometimes called genetic modification, is the process of altering the DNA in an organism’s genome. This may mean changing one base pair (A-T or C-G), deleting a whole region of DNA, or introducing an additional copy of a gene. It may also mean extracting DNA from another organism’s genome and combining it with the DNA of that individual."

Genetic engineering has nothing to do with heirloom seeds or organic farming practices. It has nothing to do with hybrid seeds which are commonly used throughout agriculture today. Genetically modified organisms are altered on the very basic genome level by manipulating strings of genes from other plants or even other unrelated organisms. It is cutting edge biotechnology which is still viewed by some as potentially risky but has been shown to deliver insect and disease resistant organisms much faster than the older selective breeding methods.

USDA has some restrictions on GMO proliferation and uses. The EU has far greater restrictions upon them to the point of outright bans on many commonly used US products.

And that was the point I was making: The EU regs are considered non-tariff barriers which must also be dealt with in the future tariff negotiations.

The elections are not usually about who I like to support but the one I figure will do the least amount of damage.

I wasn’t sure about how much Trump would or could do but boy am I glad he’s in.

He’s waking up a lot of people to what this country is all about, and it’s not top down control by a bunch of elites.

The people have woken up to just how much power THEY really still have.

Even after Trump leaves office, we can see now what can be done and that it wasn’t hopeless.

The libs and NWO do not have a semi-comatose electorate to deal with any more.

It’s both. Those who don’t know what the EU was intended to be are as you describe.

This article is wrong. The announcement today between Juncker and Trump was for negotiations which would include the alum/steel tariffs issue.

Alum/steel tariffs are not being rolled back to start talks.

Free trade is the ideal situation.

But ONLY if it works both ways.

Trump is doing exactly the right thing.

also driven the Bushite/Globalist/GOPe/RINO/neocon/pretend-’conservatives’ to reveal what they really stand for as well!

there never was going to be a ‘trade war’ ... Trump knew the EU would have to cave and it took only a couple of weeks at that ... the leftist fake stream media is besides themselves that Trump won bigly and quickly, and that none of their BS fear-mongering about the U.S. economy being destroyed by Trump’s tariffs and ‘trade wars’ will come to pass ...

instead, these kinds of big wins on truly fair trade are going to be yet another YUGE factor in further super-charging the U.S. economy, putting YUGE pressure on employers to pay better wages and to treat American workers as precious commodities ...

Removing the tariffs will more closely approximate “Free Trade” as I have repeatedly pointed out, Trump is negotiating his way towards Free Trade. To the extent that there are tariffs the economy moves away from Free Trade.

Free Trade is a theoretical concept, not an actual state of being. It cannot exist, it does not exist and it never existed.

Free Trade is a theoretical concept,

No it's not! We have free trade now - INSIDE THE USA between the 50 states. Our founders even thought of that for us. You traitors will be the ruin of us all. I curse all of you globalists.

We have free trade now between the 50 states, that should be good enough for us all. Foreign goods get taxed. It’s the only way.

I’ll admit he wasn’t my first choice, but I am damned glad he got elected.

Partner, President Trump was my first choice from the start since all the folks he was running against were politicians! We'll give you a pass this time around.

President Trump comes from the Business side and he has been a very successful businessman in my book. Just look at his record. He is worth around $18 Billion.

He is a builder who actually gets buildings built!!! This will definitely help with the Southern Border Wall

He is a steet fighter the likes which we have never seen in a POTUS. A really like this trait and we saw this from the start in the debates.

He has a very high energy level the likes of which we have not seen in my lifetime.

We use to recruit engineers at my company and this is one trait that we definitely would grade and look at for long term employment with our company.

The Speaker of the People's House by the name of Paul Ryno should be fired now since he never raised a finger to help out a Non-Politician like President Trump. The same goes for the Senate Majority guy by the name of Mitch McConJob.

Every Good Freeper will tell ya that we need new leadership in the House and Senate.

President is working for the American populace for $1 Dollar a year. How do you like them apples!!!

Do you thing anybody he was running against would go for a $1 a year salary. I do not think so!!!

BTW, we never knew there was so much Fake News and Fake Polls like there are right now!!!

My eyes have been opened up like never before with our so called Politicians.
