However, it is a ho-hum event for born again Christians who long ago learned their purpose in life through faith, not proof. Others need and therefore seek proof to learn their purpose in life.
You are correct. To qualify as a living thing, an organism must in one way or another meet each of these 5 conditions:
consume food
derive energy from what is consumed
grow
adapt to surroundings
reproduce
