More drivel from this columnist:

But government regulations are the only way to prevent capitalism from crushing all but the wealthy. Regulations are the referees for fair play in our system, making sure businesses protect the safety and quality of life of their employees. And more than 80 percent of us are their employees.

Think of the NFL without a salary cap or the guys in the striped shirts enforcing rules. That's what our society would look like without regulations.

What’s the difference between NOLA and Holland?

The government of Holland enforces a “1000 year flood” standard on its infrastructure.

The government of NOLA, not so much.

120 years ago, before we had all of these regulations, all of that land was underwater? Only the passing of the regulations made the Gulf waters recede? Wasn’t that horrifically anti-environmental, causing the seas to disappear like that?

Perhaps if we didn’t build cities in an area below sea level like New Orleans......

If these enviro-whackos hadn’t blocked the NOLA seawall upgrades several decades ago Katrina wouldn’t have had the impact the author is whining about now.

What a load of crap. There are efforts underway that are pretty successful at reclaiming land but a lot of them are hindered by regulation and environmentalists. One of the more successful ones is one done by a local parish, ducks unlimited, and I think ConocoPhillips. They are reclaiming land faster and cheaper than the federal government can with no federal government money.

Think of Chicago, that’s what the country would look like with rules and laws. People get shot allthe the time for no real reason.

Wow! I live just NORTH of I-10. This means I’ll soon be owning ocean front property. I can stop wasting money on my IRA, and still retire a millionaire.

The land is sinking - nothing to do with ‘global warming’... If it was ‘global warming’ the Tampa Bay area would have the same problem...
