Well let’s just hold them to their claimed objectives;
-THEY can’t use any carbon based means of transportation. That means they are walking or biking their way across the country until they finish that solar powered or wind powered airplane.
-No drugs, the legal kind, for health care. Most require petroleum in some way.
-No meat, fine more for me! Good luck finding anything else edible that doesn’t require fossil fuels. And if you do it won’t be cheap.
-No “capitalism” huh? Without a free market, what exactly is your alternative, because without a free market, there requires force to some sort of alternative market to meet needs of people. If there is no right to what we earn, or property, what is going to get people out of bed and off their asses other than force? I will love to see the condition of those things we are supposed to share, like cars and appliances.
-No patriarchy, as if modern extremist feminism has allowed anything like that to exist in modern culture. I am surprised any men are getting married at all! There is clearly no benefit for men in it these days.

Great job on the life lesson with your kiddo. Living in Seattle we had all sorts of opportunities like this - in retrospect it was GOOD living here, as they were exposed to it while we could guide them. My daughter goes to a college that is about 30 to 40% conservative.
She has lots of friend’s that are conservative, and from small-town, conservative areas. Her friends lament how liberal the college is.
My daughter loves how “conservative” it is. “Are you kidding? Growing up it was me, my sister and maybe 5 other kids that weren’t liberals in my class of 600. This is great!!” Plus - she can now weather the storm of her liberal professors.
These non-conformists are all the same.
Indeed then they place their cell phone in the microwave for a fast charge.
